Over the years the Oron youths have accompanied their parents to the annual conference, but felt excluded from the activities especially when the adults were busy deliberating and taking decisions on matters of interest and importance to our mother land.
In 2005, under the able and dynamic leadership of Mr. Chris Oyobio Sr, a committee was set up to handle the affairs of the youth with Lady Nkoyo Ekpo as Chairperson.
When in 2009 Lady Nkoyo Ekpo became National President, her passion and desire to integrate Oron youths into the Union’s activities led to a budgetary allocation and reactivation of the committee to Youth and Culture.
Since its inception, the Youths have organized several site–seeing events, entertained the audience with cultural dances and fashion shows at the annual conference. It is our belief that by having them fully integrated, we will be able to tap, explore, harness their talents as well as their potentials with the hope that in the nearest future, they will take up the mantle of leadership for Oro.
