Bore Hole Project

PROGRESS REPORT OF THE WATER BOREHOLE PROJECTS SPONSORED BY THE USA BRANCH OF ORON UNION.

1. This report is submitted by Professor E. O. Esu, the contractor who was chosen to handle the borehole projects at Oruko, Ekeya, Eyetong, Ekim and Offi-Uda. My contact: 2348056618477, 2348023252883 and 2348039660675.

2. Early in the year 2003, I signed a contract to construct five (5) productive boreholes at Ekeya, Oruko, Ekim, Eyetong and offiUda. This distribution of boreholes covered the five Local Government Areas in Oro Nation. Mr. Asuqwo Ntuen-Ating Jr.
the President of Oron Union USA Branch signed the contract for his Branch. The total contract sum was N3,667,000.00 (Three million, six hundred and sixty-seven thousand naira only).

3. The site for each borehole was chosen by the Council of each of the villages Ekeya, Oruko, Ekim Eyetong and Offi -Uda.

4. The five (5) boreholes have been successfully drilled, constructed and developed. Good foundation was laid, Stanchions raised and the top platform put in place at each borehole site. Attached are the pictures duly labeled for four (4) sites. These pictures were taken with a digital camera on Thursday August 17, 2006. I could not gain access to offi-Uda site because of the heavy rains which rendered the roads to the site impossible to use, even by motor cyclists. However, the tank stanchions and the platform have been raised. The borehole is also productive. This situation can
be confirmed by a phone call to anybody in Offi-Uda village

5. Eyetong village Council has built the generator/starter house and the two 3000 litre tanks have been installed. I was not told or informed about the progress of work regarding the small generator/starter house at Eyetong. Otherwise, I would have
installed their pump before sending this report. I will make effort to do so early in September 2006

6. Mr. Asukwo Ntuen-Ating sponsored the construction of the generator/starter house at Ekeya. The Community is enjoying the water whenever they have a generator to run the pump which had already been installed.

7. My wife’s relation in California Mr. Ukpong-Ote Uweh provided money for the construction of the generator/starter house at Oruko, after the appeal that I and my wife made to him. The contractor whom I asked to fabricate the tank stand did some
bad job, hence I could not put up the tanks. About two weeks ago, I got the last bit of the contract some from Mr Asukwo Ntuen-Ating (through Prof. U. K. Enyenihi). I have just paid another contractor to correct the bad job so that I can raise the two 3000 litre PVC tanks and install the pump.

8. At Ekim village, the tank stanchions and the top platform are already in place. The new tank stand contractor has been paid to put protective plates on the platforms at Ekim, Ekeya and Oruko. This is necessary for the protection of the PVC tanks against damage when they are fully charged with water and also during the cleaning of the PVC tanks when the tanks are dirty.

9. Every last Saturday of the month I visit home for some religions activity in my village. I want to assure you that I will install the pumps at Oruko and Eyetong during one of such visits

10. The Pump and tanks at Ekim are awaiting installation after completion of the generator/starter house, which has been, raised up to window level as at Thursday August 17, 2006 (see picture attached). Picture showing the generator/starter house raised only to window level at Ekim village. The tank stanchions and top platform are also in place

11. Pump installation and housing of the PVC tanks at Offi-Uda are awaiting the building and completion of pump starter /generator house. The construction of this house has not yet started.

12. The progress of work so far, shows that only one generator/pump
starter house remains to complete the entire project. I suggest that the USA Branch of Oron Union should arrange to do the following.

(i) Sponsor the building of the remaining one generator/starter
house at offi-Uda. It will cost about N150, 000.00 ( one hundred and fifty thousand naira only) otherwise somebody from the said Offi-Uda community should be sourced to do the building.

(ii) some of the villages do not have light source (power supply) that can be relied upon. Supplying 5NO. 6.5 kva Honda generators at N 100,000.00 for each of the five boreholes should be considered.

13. At the end of the exercise, I believe everyone would be happy with this laudable project. Inspite of the problems which I have encountered in the course of this project for which I have gained nothing, I want to say thank you for giving me the chance to help you to render this service to our fatherland.
Please let me have your fax number so that I can fax the receipt to prove that the contract sum has been paid -up.
